Diploma in Buddhist Studies
MyBA is offering Diploma in Buddhist Studies in collaboration with the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka. This is one year programme with five Course Units and an Essay.It requires no knowledge of the Pāli and Sanskrit languages nor prior acquaintance with Buddhist texts but familiarity with Indian history and Indian religious thought would be extremely useful. The Course provides an insight into the main teachings of Buddhism.
The course consists of the following five units:
1. Historical Background of Buddhism
2. Fundamental Teachings of Buddhism
3. Theravāda and Mahāyāna
4. Buddhist Ethics and Meditation
5. Abhidhamma and Development of Buddhist Thought
Commencement Date: 6th September, 2014
Time: 2:30 to 5:30 Every Saturday and Sunday
Duration: One Year
Admission Requirements:
■ Pass in STPM or equivalent, or
■ Pass in the GCE (General Certificate of Education) Advanced Level examination or equivalent examination, or
■ Certificate Course in Buddhist Studies, or
■ Any other qualification approved by MyBA Curricula Board.
